We make a whole bunch of stuff from scratch at The BSL. We believe that we should know what we’re putting in our mouths! It is also fun and rewarding to realize that mustard is actually super easy to make and you can play with flavours and spiciness and all that good stuff!
We make our own…. mayonnaise, spicy maple mustard, salad dressings, tempeh marinade, veggie and chicken soup stocks, gravy (beef and mushroom), lemon curd, apple compote, croutons, pesto, hummus, scones, pastry/quiche crusts, ice tea, fries are cut here (they are 100% potato) and peameal bacon. Peameal bacon is traditional Canadian bacon, we could not find a supplier here and could not imagine making Eggs Benedict without it so we decided to make our own! It is brined pork loin sliced and rolled in cornmeal and then fried to order.
